Berry Jr. runner-up at Marshalltown Speedway over Memorial Day weekend

On Friday evening, Tom Berry Jr. kicked off the holiday weekend with a visit to Marhsalltown (Iowa) Speedway ahead the United States Modifed Touring Series event at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) on Saturday.

Storming from fifth-to-first in his heat race, Berry earned the pole position for the 25-lap main event and led the first 14 circuits. Tom gave up the lead on lap 15 and settled for a runner-up finish behind Cody Laney.

Among a huge field of 50 Modifieds on Saturday, Tom raced his way into the $5,000-to-win feature through a B-Main, but ended up retiring early from the A-Main and finished 26th.

Wrapping up the extended weekend on Sunday afternoon, Berry was leading at Benton County Speedway (Vinton, Iowa) in the IMCA Modified feature when a mechanical failure ended his night early.
