Tom Berry Jr. tops Hawkeye Land 40 in Modified at Cedar County

After a frustrating end to a strong run with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) the previous weekend, Tom Berry Jr. returned to the track on Thursday night with a clear mission—and he delivered.

Berry entered a single event over the weekend, taking his IMCA Modified to Cedar County Speedway for the Hawkeye Land 40. With 15 competitors on hand, the Oregon native wasted no time making his presence known.

After securing a fifth-place finish in his heat race, Berry lined up on the front row for the 25-lap main event. From there, quickly made his move, surging into the lead on the opening lap and never relinquishing it. Berry crossed the line with a comfortable 0.668-second margin over Ethan Braaksma, with Jeff Larson completing the podium.
